The landmark 1905 Baker & Hamilton Building now houses 200,000 square feet of modern office and multimedia workspaces, while the historic elements of the renovated building were repaired and preserved. Together with the new building, the new and historic parts of the building were to provide architectural “dialogue“ between the past and the present. The new office building at 625 Townsend Street establishes a modern work-place in the historic neighborhood. Large open floor areas and high ceilings suit the needs of high-tech tenants. On the exterior, European clay tile cladding and aluminum sun screens complement the historic building. A block-long linear entry courtyard connects the two buildings.
