Growing up on the hurricane-prone East Coast and spending the last decade on the drought-ridden West Coast has made me acutely aware of the human-caused changes to our climate and the increased vulnerability of communities that did not directly cause this damage. The history of architecture is marked by environmental racism and injustice, making it crucial for architects to work on behalf of historically marginalized and underrepresented communities and environments.
