The Arts and Administration Building will provide much-needed expansion of fine arts, performing arts, and music classroom space, along with a centralized hub for campus administrative offices. The centerpiece of the building is a flexible multi-function space envisioned as a “vessel of the community” that will function as a 250-seat black box theater, a flexible performing arts space, and an assembly hall for a variety of school programs. When not in use as a performance space, the “black box” will transform into a light-filled gathering space framing dramatic views of the native oak and redwood forest outside.

The building will exemplify the campus-wide approach of connection to the natural environment with simple forms, emphasis on daylighting and views, and direct connection to the sloped natural terrain. The design celebrates the integration of architecture and building systems, the natural water cycle, the changing seasons, and the forested hillside campus setting.

The wildfire-hardened, all-electric building is designed to provide 100% of it’s own renewable energy on site, reduce potable water consumption by over 70% from baseline, and achieve LEED Platinum certification.
