Felton Learning Center at 548 Delta
A renovated, accessible early childhood education center for the Felton Institute, creating a welcoming community resource hub that supports not just children, but the whole family.
The 4,600 SF, three-level adaptive reuse project included structural modifications, new electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, accessibility enhancements, a new food preparation kitchen, and site improvements. 548 Delta Street now provides “birth to 5” childcare for approximately 60 children in 4 classrooms: infant, toddler, and two pre-K. In addition to classrooms, the space also contains a family resource center, a teaching staff lounge, and an exterior play area. The design features a bright racetrack running through the space, providing color, whimsy, and spatial definition throughout both floors of the building.
As the San Francisco Bay Area’s oldest continuously operating non-profit organization, the Felton Institute operates social service and education programs designed to meet the needs of multiple vulnerable populations: children and youth, families, older adults, people with mental health challenges, people with disabilities, and people impacted by the criminal justice system. LMSA is proud to support Felton’s efforts to respond to human needs with innovative, cutting-edge social services.
