The two-story, $36 million mixed-use project incorporates offices for non-profit and governmental organizations serving the disabled community, a conference center, job and computer training classrooms, a fitness center and a childcare facility. An iconic helical ramp welcomes people of all abilities to the second floor while it expresses the values of Universal Design to the general public. Integrating advanced strategies of universal design and sustainable design, the building welcomes and supports people of all abilities.
“Universal design really is good design—it is making buildings that are functional and adapt to the people that will be using them, as opposed to having people adapt to the built environment. That’s the way it should be.”
Dmitri Belser, President, Ed Roberts Campus
