Ed Roberts Campus
The Ed Roberts Campus (ERC) is one of the first buildings of its kind in the nation – a community center serving and celebrating the Independent Living / Disabled Rights Movement. Located at a regional transit hub and integrating advanced strategies of Universal Design and Sustainable Design, the ERC welcomes and supports people of all abilities.
The two-story, $36 million mixed-use project incorporates offices for non-profit and governmental organizations serving the disabled community, a conference center, job and computer training classrooms, a fitness center and a childcare facility. An iconic helical ramp welcomes people of all abilities to the second floor while it expresses the values of Universal Design to the general public. Integrating advanced strategies of universal design and sustainable design, the building welcomes and supports people of all abilities.
