Architecture has a bigger story to tell.
The best buildings reach beyond the property line to engage real issues like climate change, community connection and social justice. That’s an idea at the center of all our work. I’m happy that we’ve been able to carry that idea as far as we have, and I’m interested in seeing how much further we can push it.
More than any other project, the Ed Roberts Campus taught me that you can create a building with the best intentions of having a positive impact on people’s lives, and in the end the impact can exceed everyone’s expectations. I often tell students that there’s never been a more exciting time in the history of architecture to be an architect - we have powerful tools to help build a better world.
